Dinner at The Slanted Door

May 20, 2021

Last night was Mexican food, tonight’s dinner was Vietnamese fusion at The Slanted Door, a restaurant, that has earned a spot in the Michelin guide.  Not quite Michelin star but the mere inclusion in this century-old French-based guide is already something to be proud of.

Slanted Door

Modern bar counter with wooden stools and industrial kitchen behind glass.
Daikon Rice Cakes with shiitake mushrooms, shallots, sweet chili soy sauce
Two pieces of grilled tofu garnished with cilantro.

Simmered wild Alaskan halibut, wild mushrooms ginger broth, glass noodles, daikon turnip, with Jazmine rice

A bowl of fish soup with vegetables and a side of white rice.
I can finish this whole plate by myself. Next time I come here, this would be my only dish.
Cellophane Noodles with wild gulf & Dungeness crab, green onion, sesame oil
A plate of shredded chicken garnished with fresh cilantro.

Plate of sautéed asparagus with herbs and garlic.
Shaking Beef – cubed grass-fed filet, watercress, red onion, lime sauce
Grilled steak with sautéed onions and dipping sauce on a white plate.
