Our much awaited New Year family holiday in Las Vegas turned into a Covid hide and sick. We’re here to go out, walk outside, watch shows, eat out but instead we stayed in bed most of the time. I felt sick, then got better, then Edmund felt sick then got better. Then I felt sick again. When we got better, we didn’t want to expose ourselves too much and be careless so we decided to leave and go back to California although covid is there too. Here, there, and everywhere.
Hotel a la Curacha.
Our SUV is the epitome of a gas gassler. We have to gas up every 3 hours. Parang alcoholic. Matingin lang ako sa view, biglang half-gallon na lang.
There are scorpions in Las Vegas, outdoors and indoors.
Hay naku Mochi, you made all of us nervous. Muntik na yan maging permanent resident of Las Vegas. The other day I left her in the backyard so she could pee and poo. I went back in to prepare food. Tapos I also gave Dave a call. After almost an hour, while we were about to eatlunch, Nyke looked for Mochi.
N—-“Ma, where’s Mochi?”
Me—“I left her outside, nadyan sa likod, so she could pee.”
N—-“She’s not here.”
E—-“Nadyan, nakita ko.”
N—-“Mochi!!”
A—-“Mochiiii…”
N—-“She’s not here.”
In panic, I ran outside and walked three blocks looking for her, calling out Mochiiii, Mochichi, Mochi. Kilala na sya sa buong neighborhood. I didn’t find her so I walked back and found Nyke and Edmund on the sidewalk waiting for me and hoping that I have found Mochi. Nyke and I took the car and drove around. We made two rounds and failed to see her. We changed our direction, turned left and another left. While Nyke was driving slow, I continued to call out her name loudly. Maiiyak na’ko talaga. Mochi! Mochi. Ang layo na namin. Then a miracle happened, Lo and behold, I spotted something silvery gray moving in the middle of the street. As we drove closer… a la MOCHI!!! When Nyke called her, she even ran away from us. Then when we called her again, she stopped. Nyke picked her up. Hay naku, muntik na syang mawala talaga. I removed her collar pa naman to make her more comfortable kaya if found, they will not be able to contact my sister whose phone number is on Mochi’s collar.
Oyen said if anyone finds Mochi she will most likely be turned over to the county pound. And since she’s old and gray, they will probably put her to sleep. Thank you Lord she’s back with us.
Our traditional stop over is in Popeye’s in Barstow. Medyo tila nasawa na ako sa Popeye’s. Three days in a row. Tuktulaok-tuktulaok.
A ten hour drive doesn’t seem too long and far anymore because we’ve been doing this road trip once or twice a year in the past 5 years.
Drinking a large size of mango dragonfruit leads to peentoxication. I made that up.
Mochi’s pee break.
I can’t imagine losing this girl. Imagine if we failed to find her. Naku po. I will be spending my days and nights thinking about her. If she’s alright. If she’s looking for us, or if still remembers us.
This vehicle must be running too fast and eto, naka-tagilid na.
The driver looks fine.
