I’ve been looking for the perfect filing cabinet for several months to house my overflowing files. I had been to Office Depot, Office Warehouse, IKEA, Costco, and there was nothing that suited my requirement— wide enough to accommodate wide folders, spacious enough so as not to scratch my hands every time I opened it, reasonably priced, white color, preferably fireproof.
When I couldn’t find it in the stores, I went online. I found an office-style filing cabinet for $350 and decided to get it na lang because I didn’t have much choice. Most were out of stock and delivery would be in 3 – 6 months. When I called their customer service, she told me I had to pay a $150 delivery charge, plus a $44 surcharge because I didn’t have a loading dock. Pay an extra $194 for delivery plus another $99 for the cabinet’s stand with wheels? No no no no.
I surfed again for more choices and found the perfect one. It looks like a piece of home furniture and hindi parang pang-opisina. It’s almost white, it’s cheap at $245, free delivery, available in stock the size is perfect. It ticked all the boxes except it is not fireproof.
I ordered it on Amazon and it turned out that I am an Amazon Prime member. I didn’t even know. when I was paying, a banner appeared that I have enough rewards dollars to buy this item. FREE!!!! Yes. I got this for free. I was so surprised and happy. I felt like a little girl who woke up on Christmas morning finding a gift from Santa.
It arrived in a big box on March 6 before 9 am, just a few days after I ordered it.
The box was so heavy. Nyke helped me unbox it so we could see the parts and it would be easier to carry the pieces to the room.
My son promised to assemble it while Edmund and I went to check my brother’s brand new kitchen,
When we arrived in the afternoon, Nyke was still busy assembling the cabinet. It was almost finished but Edmund noticed it was misaligned and Nyke missed a few screws so he disassemble a section and helped Nyke put it together correctly. It was carpentry 101.
