I relied on Uber to go to my appointments every single day. And surprisingly enough, some affluent people here drive the Uber for different reasons. One guy owns a hotel in downtown, operates 6 Uber SUVs. Except that on the night I met him, one of the drivers went back to Puerto Rico for a one month holiday. He said the car was just parked there, and he had nothing to do that night, so he decided to drive around town and pick up passengers.
Another American guy is an aerospace engineer. He is from LA and is in town on an observation tour. His 35 year old daughter lives here and has been trying to convince him to come relocate here. He said he likes Vegas except that it’s too hot. His car is a Lincoln MKX. He said when you’re buying a car, you might as well get the best one.
One guy owns 5 rental houses and is driving a Lexus! He only does Uber twice a week. He said he is divorced and has nothing to do on weekends because his family is in North Carolina.
A young fellow serves in the military. Aside from that, he is a Certified Public Accountant. His parents and sister live in Seattle and he’s by himself here in Vegas. No wife, no girlfriend, no kid. It’s his day off and instead of sitting all day at home, he drives Uber. He said he doesn’t go to the casinos and hates night life. He only drives for a few hours once a week.
