I accompanied bride-to-be Mary Rose to Amir Sali’s shop last Wednesday evening. She’s getting married in September and I offered to sponsor her wedding gown (my gift to her).
Ayaw nya nung una kasi nahihiya but I insisted.
Our appointment was supposed to be the day before but was moved because Amir was attending a bible study.
I was so busy on that day but I had to bring her to Amir before I leave for abroad so that while I am away, Amir’s team could start work on her wedding gown. I was also worried because Amir is so busy these days. He’s leaving for LA and NY in June to meet with no less than the goddess of music, Beyonce. Amir is doing 5 dresses for her. He’s also the finale for a fashion event in Manila on May 28 featuring 12 fashion designers. He’s now the object of other designers’ envy because his dresses were chosen by the organizers to be the finale number.
Marose showed Amir a photo of a nice gown with a skirt made of tulle. It’s nice but generic. It’s something nice but ordinary.
Amir and I agreed that it should be something different from all other wedding gowns. Elegant but not estrambotica.
Amir started weaving his magic.
In two minutes, he came up with a design that is very dainty and sweet, which matches the personality of Marose.
Mary Rose and Amir
Marose is happy with her gown concept. I am sure she will like the actual dress as much as she liked the drawing.
A few minutes after I arrived home, I received thank you messages from Mary Rose. She and fiancee Jello are nahihiya kaya hwag na lang daw, nagulat kasi sya sa presyo. She said an Amir Sali’s gown is more befitting of my daughter, not her. I wholeheartedly and unconditionally offered to give her an Amir Sali wedding gown. Her gown is my family’s gift to her.
I am sure the gown would look fantastic on her.
