My dear friend Atty. Emil Jurado surprised me with a visit to my office in Makati.
I heard a man asking my assistant “Is Mrs. Annie Tan-Yee here?”
Pls tell her, Emil Jurado”.
Nabosesan ko agad sya so I went out and greeted him.
Atty. Jurado and I have been friends since FVR time. I first met him during President Ramos’s presidential visit to Vietnam. We all rode on one plane, on one bus, ate together and had so much fun together. The whole business delegation stayed for one night in a very old government housing in Hanoi. The following morning, Emil said he wasn’t able to take a bath because the bath tub was moving and there’s no water from the shower. The water naman from the faucet was colored brown.
I also wasn’t able to take a shower because when I stepped on the bath tub, it shook. Parang may multo. Each of us had our own story to tell the following morning. Meron naman daw may kumakatok sa dingding. Sa room namin merong kumakatok sa glass door.
Atty. Jurado has a column in the daily newspaper Manila Standard. He’s an officer of the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC).
He likes to travel with his wife and children. When he was 70 years old, he told me that he’s living on a bonus time. He’s like in the business lounge at the airport- getting ready anytime he would be called. So he’s enjoying and travelling with his family. Now he’s 86. Walks slower but unaided. Ang galing mo Emil. Wishing you many more years of active life. Thanks for visiting.
