Kuya Romy and his family spent the holidays in Binangonan. They arrived few days before December and they’re all going back to Hayward tomorrow. I was asking them why they’re all in a hurry to go back to California. There, Kuya Romy and Ate Ella would just spend their days slouched on their American size sofa, while watching tele-drama on the TFC Channel. In Binangonan, they are able to walk around the thickly populated town, maraming kakwentuhan, hindi naka-kulong sa loob ng bahay.
I only got to see them twice while they were here. Like a hello and goodbye. I hosted a Tan family Christmas lunch before Christmas at the City Buffet in Robinsons Galleria to welcome them. Today, Edmund and I had lunch with them at the Balawbalaw Restaurant in Angono.
This was an impromptu get-together. I only notified them at midnight last night. I also sent text messages around 10:30 this morning. Unfortunately, the 3 texts I sent to my nephew Owel bounced. I resent twice and he only got it around 11 am. He and his wife didn’t make it.
Edmund and I arrived in Balawbalaw at exactly 12 noon and all the tables were either occupied or reserved. They did 350 heads before we arrived and more students are coming. Meron yatang field trip.
We had no prior reservation. Akalain ko ba naman na ganito pala sila ka-indemand. They told us to come back around 4 pm. Ha?
After some pakiusap, they gave us two tables.
Service daw would be slow because of the number of people in the restaurant. They encouraged us to go and explore their gallery and museum on the 2nd and 3rd floors while they were setting up the table. Para hindi kami mainip pero tamad kami, we just wanted to sit and eat. I was starving.
Ross and sister Kisha were born in California but both speak fluent Tagalog complete with Binangonan accent. Dapat ganyan. I commend their parents for speaking to them in straight Tagalog. This kids speak fluent English with an American twang.
