I wanted to spend a whole weekend out of town with my children but our schedules did not permit. When we’re in Manila kasi there are many distractions, kanya-kanyang lakad kaya once in a while, it’s good to go away. That way, we are all stuck together, morning, noon and night.
Edmund had two consecutive golf tournaments last weekend so it was only the 3 of us who went to Cavite for lunch on Sunday at Bawai’s.
Stop-over at the gas station in SLEX
The three of us shared in this big cup of coconut shake. They also bought potato chips, my worry was we wouldn’t have any more appetite when we get to Bawai’s in Cavite.
Bawai is accessible from Aguinaldo Hway. Before reaching the Rotonda in Tagaytay, turn right.
Nice surroundings. There’s a mansion nearby.
The owners built this house as a family vacation home.
Bawai is strictly by appointment only.
Our reservation was at 12:30 pm but we arrived at 1 pm. We waited for at least 15 minutes for a table. Then another 15 minutes for someone to take our orders.
Their service was very slow. the owner apologized, that day lang daw kasi they got an order for 100 px, and some of their staff were at the catering. It was also disappointing that most of the items in the menu were no longer available, according to the waitress “kasi linggo na ngayon”. Sumisikat na sila kaya they should prepare for the influx of customers and food orders. According to the owner, their popularity soared when they were featured by Anton Diaz in Our Awesome Planet.
We looked forward to tasting their fresh spring roll. But all they had was this fried roll which was good naman with the vinegar sauce.
Their beef noodles soup had very subtle taste. Too subtle that it tasted matabang. It’s not bad at all. It could have a higher rating with some improvement.
This is a shrimp salad.
Bawai is the name of the Vietnamese wife of Virgilio Tatlonghari. They met in Vietnam where he worked during the war. He told us his son Paul recently opened a branch in katipunan, white Plains.
He hopped from one table to another apologizing for the slow service.
They are open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only but beginning on Monday, his son would offer breakfasts in their tiny kubo in their garden. The kubo is sadorable, and fits 12 px.
Overall, it was a good meal. I paid P1,070 for all that food.
