Best Salpicao @ Calderon - Oh My Buhay

Best Salpicao @ Calderon

My daughter’s the reigning Binibining Salpicao. Bring her to any restaurant, basta merong Salpicao sa menu, for sure that’s what she would order.

Last week, after viewing something, she sent her driver home and she rode with me instead. Uuwi na daw sya to rest, then she’ll have dinner with a friend of hers at Cowrie Grill in Greenhills.

We got stuck (as usual) in EDSA. At 3:30 pm, traffic was, what can I say, bwisit. Mas mabilis pa ang pagong.

By 4:00 pm we’re still in the middle of a highway turned parking lot.
I was starving. I can’t recall why, siguro I didn’t have lunch.

When we reached the corner of EDSA and Pioneer, we turned right. My daughter said I could get food from somewhere in Kapitolyo, Sya daw hindi kakain because she has dinner that night.

I couldn’t decide what and where to eat. We decided to try something new. When I saw the sign board Calderon, I told the driver dyan na lang. Oyen said she’s been to Calderon in San Juan. She asked “are you sure?” She’s not going to eat daw.

We got off the car. As soon as we stepped into the small dining area, my daughter told the waitress “Ako, salpicao”.

Iisang hakbang pa lang kami, nag-order na agad. Kala ko ba hindi sya kakain. Didn’t you hear her say she’s not eating?

I instantly liked the ambiance.  I knew already that it’s not going to be my first and last here.  I really prefer small and cozy than big, fancy, and noisy restaurants.

Their Salpicao is so far the best I’ve tasted. It has lots of garlic which my daughter and I love.

Me naman I like Callos. Theirs is good but I cannot say it’s the best. I finished this small plate, and the three slices of bread.

and all this bread. Gutom ako talaga.
and all this bread
We didn’t order drinks, libreng tubig lang. I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

I think we paid a little less than a thousand pesos.

They have three locations pala. The original is in F. Calderon Street in Little Baguio, San Juan City, maybe that’s where they got their name.
