We were lazy to leave the hotel for dinner. We just wanted to have dinner at the hotel restaurant but they were giving us a table in the hallway which Edmund didn’t like.
There are only a handful of fine dining restaurants in Baguio City. Aside from Le Chef, there’s the Hill Station but it was closed for an event. The other one, Mama’s Table is closed till November.
We ended up in Mario’s.
Mario’s was Edmund and I’s favorite restaurant in the 80s for special occasions like Valentine’s Day and birthdays when we were still sweethearts.
But we outgrew it and have never dined at Mario’s in Manila for decades.
Mario’s in Baguio is not a fine dining restaurant. The vibe is more casual.
Or maybe that’s just my impression because there were diners wearing slippers, shorts and sando.
They reserved a table for us somewhere in the center. We moved to the one near the window. I asked for an extra cushion to sit on. Nakalubog na kasi itong bench nila.
It took me a long time to find something in the menu. I was still full from our lunch and donuts.
I didn’t order soup but I got Edmund’s extra soup.
We split a plate of caesar salad.
If my daughter becomes a government official, you can easily bribe her with a plate of delicious beef tenderloin salpicao. I am not saying that she will accept it but you have a good chance of tempting her.
My husband’s steak was full of fats and veins. He could not even slice it. Nasayang lang. He was not able to eat and didn’t enjoy his birthday dinner.
My fish was okay.
He didn’t like his food. He didn’t want the waiters to sing a happy birthday. He didn’t want to blow the candle. See, he was not smiling.
He took a small slice just to taste the cake. I gave the excess to Sgt. Salt.
We walked around the hotel’s garden for a few minutes before going up to the room.
Back to the room. Husband went straight to bed while Oyen and I watched tv in the living room.
