November 24, 2019, Sunday
We all trooped to La Creperie in Whiteplains, Katipunan for a birthday lunch in celebration of my mother in law’s 86th birthday.
It was a simple gathering attended only by her seven children and their families.
I thought we were going to exclusively occupy the whole second floor but it was too big naman for all of us. We occupied four long tables pushed against the wall / window.
Next time I think it’s better that we hold family celebrations like this in a restaurant with a private room or in her house na lang. Maraming ibang kumakain and it couldn’t be helped na maingayan sila or maistorbo.
This charming cake ensemble was created by Le Petit.
Out of the 21 cupcakes, only one has a candle.
With some of her grandchildren
With her 7 children and spouses. Missing is Shobe who’s based in Vancouver, and Anna, always missing in action.
Oyen distributed her destination wedding invitations to the Yee family. Beside Mama Soling is her second eldest son, Edward, now based in Vancouver but visits every year.
Edna and Henry brought this baby lechon with truffle rice stuffed in the tummy. Naawa ako dun sa biik, baby pa, but still, I ate a lot of its crispy skin. Sorry baby.
Our individual orders were taken two days in advance. I ordered sardines pasta and shrimp salad. If I had known beforehand that there would be lechon, I would not have ordered the pasta. I ate half of the salad and had the pasta wrapped to go.
My husband grabbed the pig’s tail for me. He probably thought I would find it cute. Of course not.
She was grateful that her children grew up to be good persons.
