Black Smoke - Oh My Buhay

June 23, 2019

My husband was invited by Joseph Callao to participate in the annual golf tournament in the Bay Area. At 7:30 am I was awakened by Joseph’s call “Ann, Nasan na si Edmund? Naka register na lahat”. He sounded panicking. My husband was already at the parking lot and regretted that I was awakened by the call.
The tournament was in Hiddenbrook Golf Club in Vallejo.

I just stayed home. Around 2 pm, I noticed black smoke that appeared to be coming from a neighbor’s house. At first, I was like, what’s that? But then I realized oh my God, there’s a fire in the neighborhood! I tried to be calm but I haven’t heard fire alarms or fire trucks. Ang tahimik ng paligid. I grabbed my handbag and took Edmund’s passports and my passport. I was going to drive and check where the actual fire was and to asses the situation. I went out and it was so quiet on the street. Then I saw a Mexican, he said the fire’s very far.

I went back to the house. The black smoke was getting bigger and no fire trucks could be heard. I called 911 who directed me to the fire department. The lady who answered said “Yes, we have a fire.” Then she put down the phone! I think she was rushing and firemen have been mobilized. But I couldn’t hear any fire trucks still. Kasi pala super layo nung sunog. It looked so close.
