December 30, 2015 Wednesday
I didn’t even know that my daughter had seen
and remembered very well our honeymoon photo riding a boat in Burnham Park in December 1983. Edmund and I have never gone boat riding again in Baguio after that.
My daughter wanted to visit Burnham Park again to recall her childhood memories.
She had snippets of the place. She still remembers the dozens of firecracker stalls at the open field.
I pointed at the Solibao restaurant where we had dinner one time.
Ngayon super luma na.
We went near the lagoon. Edmund thought she was just curious and wanted to see the place again.
But no sir, she wanted us to ride the boat again, to relive our honeymoon moments. Syempre my husband was kilabot na kilabot na if you talk about our honeymoon. Nun bang in-love na in-love pa sya sa akin. Nung panahon ni Magellan na patay na patay at kandarapa pa sya sa beauty ko. Ngayon, he finds everything corny and baduy.
He started laughing when he realized what my daughter wanted us to do– to ride the boat and relive our honeymoon day. He was not laughing because he was excited. His laughter was more of a coping mechanism of the situation he was in. Something that he didn’t want to do but he knew he had no choice but to do it because my daughter so ordered.
So eto na kami, boating-boating at the Burnham Park lagoon in Baguio, just like 32 years ago. My daughter paid for the P150 fee.
Walang nagawa si Mister Yee kundi sumunod against his will.
Baka daw makita sya ng mga barkada nya eh kantyawan sya. Baka daw sabihin anong ginagawa nya sa Burnham Park. Ang dami nyang baka. Pero sagwan pa rin ng sagwan. Wala syang kawala.
Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
After 32 years…. it’s not a dream.

Great pictures. There were two and now there’s four. I know sometimes people don’t want to do touristy things and they miss that doing that very thing is the way to experience rhythm of the place.
Thanks Tania
