January 18, 2019 Friday Las Vegas
There’s a dessert parlour right next to Hot & Juicy restaurant. We walked in to see if they have bobba ice tea for my son.
Yes they do but they have other more delicious items too like this macaron ice cream.
The picture and description of the mango shaved ice dessert was irresistible so we ordered one to try it. Wow, before we could even finish it we wanted to come back already. It was delectable and not so sweet.
When parents hang out with their children, it’s not only about the places they visit and the food they eat. Those are just venues and incidentals. Even if you travel around the world with your children but you only take photos and not really enjoy their company, converse with them, interact with them, hug them, then those moments have no real value. It’s more about bonding, connecting with your kids who are in front of you.
I took the 20 minutes that we spent at this dessert parlour para kumustahin siya and to talk a little about his plans for the immediate future. When I took this photo my son was 28 years old. One must understand that he grew up in Manila not spoiled but sheltered so in many ways his exposure to the real world was delayed. He was not street smart and shrewd. Well, I am like that too.
He thought the world was perfect and every word the people he met told him were true and all their promises would come true. And therefore he was vulnerable to exploitations whether intentionally or unintentionally. The harsh realities of life exploded on his face three years ago and traumatized him, all of us. Living by himself in the past three years away from the chaos in Manila has calmed him down and stabilized his emotional and psychological well-being. It also has taught him many things. Progress is slower than expected but progress there is. He is making use of his time productively. He was able to graduate with a Master of Arts in International Studies and is now pursuing his MBA, a knowledge that could come in handy in the future. For his future.
Only God knows his plans for my son. As parents, Edmund, Oyen, and I can only give him our love and support and we pray every single moment for his safety, good health, contentment, security, success.
Nyke is a very kind and respectful person. I wish the people he meets are good people and positive influences and will not take advantage of him.
God Bless always! May He guide and protect your son.
Thank you Aggy.
