The backdrop of beautiful Basco is their majestic mountain Mt. Iraya. It’s an active volcano that last erupted in 1454. According to our tour guide, the millions of boulders lining up the long shoreline came from the volcano’s mouth. In some parts of the
beach, the boulders are as big as a sofa. Dyos ko, imagine kung biglang pumutok uli iyun, tapos umulan ng batong ganito kalalaki? Japanese tunnel here we come.
Although this place is called a beach, you don’t think of swimming here. The water seems not safe for swimming. Mabuti pa maghilod ka na lang at puro bato dito.
Valugan Boulder Beach is a short drive from the town proper. You can bike, it’s only 3 kilometers away. If you live here, it looks like a good place to while away your time, sit on the smooth rocks, let your thoughts wander.
The sound of the waves could be soothing but after a while it began to frighten me because of the rising waves from the Pacific Ocean. I felt like the waves would rise and get me.
