Continuation of my travel diary
April 26, 2015 Sunday, Budapest
After attending the Sunday mass at the Stephen’s Basilica, the shuttle took us across the river Danube to the Buda Castle and Labyrinth in the Buda area. This is the imposing structure I could see from our hotel room on the other side of the river.
View of Buda Castle from my hotel window
According to our tour guide, this was where Ludwig Van Beethoven held concerts.
The women swooned at the sight of the two handsome guards.
We stood there for a few minutes, waiting for the changing of the gwapo guards scheduled at 3 pm. We were curious if the new guys would be as astonishingly handsome. Hindi sila bagay guards, bagay pang Hollywood.
Changing of the guards
View of the Pest area from the Buda Castle. That’s our hotel Sofitel right there, third building to the right of the bridge, just before the darker colored Intercontinental Hotel.
A closer view of the Basilica, Sofitel, the building below the ferris wheel.
I didn’t have any expectation whatsoever when I found out we’re traveling to Budapest. I didn’t even bother to Google for advanced info. I just went with an open mind. I was surprised at how beautiful the city of Budapest is. It was well worth my time, effort, and expense. My daughter said we should stop saying that it’s beautiful or else the whole world would troop there, then the prices would go up like in Paris.
It was a little warm on this day, I got really thirsty. Susan Dimacali bought several bottles of water and gave us one.
We just stared at the building from the outside and enjoyed the view.
My son and I wanted to buy some snacks. This food kiosk was at the back of the castle. I couldn’t figure out what he was selling.
We walked through a tree-lined narrow pedestrian street.
This old couple didn’t know that every tourist that passed by took their photo.
Passers-by were all gushing at how sweet they were. Old couple sleeping together, sweet? If they are making lambingan while they are awake, yun pa I would agree that they’re sweet. Kung masama pa ang gising nyan, mag-away pa.
The trees were full of pink flowers that looked similar to the Japanese cherry blossoms.
welcome back omb! =)
