Our initial apprehension over proceeding with our short Madrid visit due to the unbearable heat, not-so-cold hotel air con, pickpockets and snatchers, turned into comfort. After spending a few days in the city, we felt comfortable walking around and and were glad we came here otherwise we would always be curious. Our worry proved unfounded.
My sister and Bong went home ahead on June 26, 2018 with a full luggage of souvenirs and Gucci bags. She was also happy with the Spanish pamaypays she added to her collections.
Edmund and I spent our remaining day going to the same stores and walking on the same pedestrian street. We were no longer interested to venture out and explore further. First, the temperature was unkind and secondly, we were lazy and tired.
We went back to El Corte Ingles. Just like what we always do, we shop separately so as not to cramp on each other’s time. I looked at some clothes but it was indeed frustrating trying to fit a sexy dress on an ultra imperfect figure. The result was always depressing to look at.
Michael Kors could be cheaper in the US.
I was given a Euro 35 refund from the pair of sunglasses I bought the night before. El Corte Ingles also gave an additional 10% credit every time I bought something so the store credit didn’t end.
I was able to use the credits to buy a pair of cute suede sandals made in Spain.
Tired of unsuccessful shopping for clothes, husband and I walked back to our hotel.
We chanced upon this group having some clean fun.
We noticed the influx of more street vendors selling mostly fake goods. Tourists patronize them that’s why they proliferate.
We passed on a different street hoping to see some interesting local shops. Since it was dinner time, when I saw this small restaurant serving Asian flare, I told Edmund dito na lang kami kumain.
The concept was similar to the poke poke sushi shop in Las Vegas.
My husband didn’t want to accompany me to buy churros from San Gines because he and an Indian waiter had a misunderstanding the previous night. Sungit kasi nung waiter. While my husband was waiting for me while I was in line, sinungitan sya nung waiter, bawal daw dun tumayo, eh saan mag-hihintay yung mga tao? We were customers and not just standing there for nothing. Kaya inaway din sya ni Edmund.
He went ahead to the hotel while I bought some churros.
Delicious mid-night snack, to share with husband.
