My husband had some down time so I dragged him to come with me to go exploring Camina Balay nga Bato (pronounced as Caminya). He’s been to this area but never noticed this Spanish heritage house.
Edmund paid the P150 entrance fee per person.
We entered thru the store on the ground floor. They sell handicrafts and food stuff like this sinamak, my husband’s favorite sawsawan.
I wanted to buy a small baterol set for decoration lang sana but when my husband asked “ano’ng gagawin mo dyan?” Oo nga naman, baka dagdag kalat lang ito.
We were made to sit for 5 minutes to watch a taped tv feature of the place.
If you have a big party or reservation then you get to see yur name written at the entrance. Welcome me and you.
All original narra and kamagong wood planks.
The one furniture piece that I am only interested to see when I visit castles, manors, mansions is the dining table. I just love tables most especially big ones.
Our old house had windows like this but without the lattice valance.
When we were planning to build our current residence in Quezon City, I wanted to have a small chapel but my husband said huwag na lang daw baka daw katakutan pa at magka meron ng multo. Instead of having a small chapel room, I just built an altar along the hallway leading to the bedrooms. That worked very well. Hindi kailangang sadyain. Whether you like it or not, it’s the first thing you see before entering the bedrooms.
This part of the house is just an addition, built several years ago using materials from other old houses.
This comedor is used for weddings, birthday events. You can also dine here but advanced reservation is required.
They have buffet dinner on weekends for P500 per px. Please contact their office for confirmation of schedule / dates / exact time.
I do not think this tea cups are originally from this house. They probably had bought this from antique shops and displayed them here to add to the heritage look.
The P150 per person entrance fee comes with some galletas and a demitasse cup of native chocolate that is so thick and creamy. If I were to dilute it with hot water I could probably make two regular sized cups of hot choco.
My husband was worried the two of us could roll down the grandiose staircase. He wanted me to hold on to him, ayaw ko nga, baka dalawa kami mahuhulog.
Hablon comes from the Hiligaynon word habol which means to weave.
The table runners are sold on a per square meter basis. I wanted to buy a big table cloth but I didn’t find something that would match my house. I bought a solid gray shawl instead that could double as a short table runner. Multi-functional.
