I can’t believe it’s Thursday. Another week is almost gone. And what an eventful week this had been. There were good and bad things that happened.
My days had been so exhausting that’s why I got sick. I knew that would happen. No sleep thinking and worrying. Early appointments. And I was also getting homesick. I was missing my family. Can you imagine right at this very moment, the four of us are hundreds of miles away from each other.
Edmund is in Manila and is leaving for China next week. Oyen just landed a few hours ago after 10 hours of plane ride from Manila to attend her Fordham classmate’s wedding. I am in Nevada, and my son is in his own world.
It’s hard to be away from each other. Edmund said wala daw syang makausap sa bahay kasi nag-iisa lang sya. By the time we see each other, I am guessing his handicap has dropped because when I am away, he has more time to play golf.
I was speaking to a government employee working at the county last Monday morning. He told me our problems are small in comparison to what happened to the families of hundreds who were impacted by the horrifying murder last October 1. I was watching the whole day coverage of the gruesome crime and my heart bleeds every time they flash the photos and personal info of those who died. They were all young. Too young to die. There’s a single mom of 4 young children. There’s a newly engaged girl. Someone went to Vegas to celebrate his 44th birthday, a lawyer, a teacher, a police officer, a fire fighter, a father, a son, a mom, oh it’s terrible.
The Uber driver I rode with earlier today said there were fewer passengers since tuesday. It’s slow. He said thousands of tourists hurriedly left Vegas and thousands more canceled their scheduled weekend here. He is worried about his bills. He is angry at the gunman. He is sad that this thing happened.
I have a long list of things to do tomorrow, Friday. My first meeting is at 8:15 am. People here in Las Vegas start their day early, sometimes 6:30,
7 am. I am just the one requesting kung pwede 8 am na lang.
One of the things I want to accomplish tomorrow is a visit to the concert grounds to pay my respects and to drop my small donation.
They’ve been calling for blood donation but I don’t want to infect the injured with my tainted blood. I have numerous health issues baka mahawahan ko pa sila. Plus halos araw-araw kare-kare ang ulam ko, baka sa halip na dugo ang lumabas eh kare-kare sauce.
