May 4, 2017 Barcelona
Our morning walk was shorter than the walking tour. From our hotel, we just walked to Passeig de Gracia to see one of Antoni Gaudi’s famous masterpieces, a private residence, the Casa Batllo. This was a building built originally by the owners but in 1904 Gaudi completely renovated the building.
It is located in a highly fashionable, prestigious and expensive district in the center of Barcelona.
I was a little disappointed because we didn’t enter the building. We just looked from the outside. There were hundreds of tourists waiting in line. It would take half a day just to get in. Maybe when I get another chance to visit Barcelona again, I will be able to make usyoso the interiors of Casa Batllo.
One of the things to do here in Barcelona is to go in front of Casa Batllo. Tumingala at tumunganga. Picture-picture then go.
We went inside the CASA AMATLLER, an equally impressive house right next to the more famous Casa Batllo. It is also beautiful with high ceilings, mosaic floors and it still has original design and architectural details.
According to the tour guide, the grand houses were showcases of the owners’ wealth and stature.
He encouraged us to go to the back of the neighboring Casa Amatller to see the back of Casa Batllo. The back was not impressive, wala namang makita. Buti walang mga sinampay (sampayan).
My tour mates bought lots of chocolates. They were going to ship balikbayan boxes that’s why they were not conscious of excess baggage. I didn’t buy anything. Our ref is still full of chocolates and since my daughter is on diet, wala, tataba lang maids namin and guards. Edmund is not fond of sweets either, except his occasional craving for Snickers.
Casa Amatller has a chocolate and souvenir shop inside and a restaurant / cafe.
The place is really nice. I wanted to sit and have hot chocolate but we didn’t have time.
Nung araw uso yung individual bumbilya na nakasabit lang sa kisame or naka sampid sa beams ng bahay. Ngayon nabalik ang uso. Ang tawag ay pendant lights. Soon I will be renovating a house and I plan on putting something like this in the kitchen or dining. Makikiuso ako. I will not use the traditional chandelier.
