I got a call today from a former staff of our organization.
We had a long kumustahan which ended in her sharing of experiences working for a Filipino-Chinese businesswoman engaged in realty here and abroad.
She said she could no longer stomach what her former boss was doing. How she treated her employees, partners and customers. Allegedly, the titles to the condominium units are mortgaged several times to banks even after the customers have fully paid the units. The titles are not released until the last moment, when customers have already filed criminal case against the developer. In most cases, two years after the units have been paid.
Suppliers of building materials, contractors, and workers are complaining daw of not being paid on time. The feisty developer pays little by little even after the project had been completed.
I personally know her. She has a nice personality and exudes the persona of a successful person who’s in control of everything.
Maybe it’s not her intention to cheat customers and partners. Maybe it’s just a case of tight cash flow that’s why she double mortgages the condominium units.
There were so many not so nice things I’ve heard about her. It’s hard for me to believe that someone who came from nothing, who now has everything, would act that way and treat other people unfairly including customers. I have no way of checking whether what people say about her are true.
She receives tremendous blessings from above and this must be shared and valued, including relationships. With all the projects she had finished and still underway, I believe she must have earned hundreds of millions.
In business, everybody must be happy. The business owners, the customers, the employees, and the community around you including the government who benefits from the payment of quadruple taxes. So in her case, if she’s earning money, why would she not give the customers their fair share of what they paid for? Why would she not pay the contractors, I asked her former staff. She would lose goodwill and may find herself with no customer, no partner, no employee.
Where are the earnings?
