The war in Zamboanga and Basilan has escalated and it’s a cause of serious alarm.
This would affect our country’s economy as a whole and it could affect many businesses, not mentioning the displacement of thousands of our kababayan living in the affected areas.
War is war. Nothing good comes out of it. We are all Filipinos. I can’t understand why we should be doing each other harm. Please stop.
I have met Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Chairman Nur Misuari a few times during the term of President Fidel V. Ramos. He was among the Presidential entourage that accompanied FVR in some of his tour of duty promoting our country’s investments.
Chairman Misuari traveled with us. He did not mingle with the business groups because he was with the senators, congressmen, governors, cabinets, and other political leaders. He would just acknowledge our presence with a nod, a faint smile or a handshake.
On board the plane, he’s in the first class section with the top government officials. Tahimik lang sya, simple, hindi nagsasalita, very unassuming.

During the time of FVR, the Muslim groups were heard and given special attention. Maybe we can ask FVR or former Cabinet Secretary Dureza to open the channel of communication with Nur Misuari. I believe Chairman Misuari has high regard for President Ramos.
