Citronella Plants

I was about to leave our office when a saw this guy selling citronella plants. I bought 6 for P1,000. He was very happy. He is from Talisay, Batangas. He doesn’t go home till he sells all the plants kasi sayang ang pamasahe. He befriends building security guards so they would let him sleep on the building’s covered sidewalks, on newspapers. I like him, he’s hardworking.

Citronella is also referred to as mosquito plant because its fragrant oil is thought to be insect-repelling. The smell is believed to be repulsive to mosquitoes.
This plant belongs to the same family as lemon grass. It is actually scented geranium. When the leaves are crushed, they produce a citronella smelling scent that does not actually scare away mosquitoes.

I changed my mind, Instead of bringing the plants to the farm, I planted them here at our tiny garden in Manila.
