Crab Love - Oh My Buhay

I got out of DFA at 10:45 am.    No breakfast no lunch I thought of eating at the seafood market along Macapagal Avenue.  Mag-a-adventure ako. We weren’t sure where it was, we just went straight, made a U-turn,  then there it was.

I just wanted one crab and one cup of steamed rice.  I entered a restaurant but was told that I have to buy first from the seafood vendors outside.  The waiter accompanied me.   I bought from the first stall right in front of the restaurant.

A big crab weighed over half a kilo –P450.  After I gave the cashier P500 bill,  the guy told me I should no longer get the sukli because that’s for the tip.    Huh? I took the P50 nevertheless.   Medyo kapal muks.

When I entered this resto, the woman was seated near the window and the door. She was by herself. I sat at a table away from her with my back turned against the window. I could not see her and the television set.
When the guy arrived, the two of them moved to that inner table where I could see them.

I couldn’t help but look. I had nothing to do while waiting for my crab. They were staring at each other. The guy moved his chair closer to the woman while they looked at each other in the eye, without saying a word, without moving. It was like they were frozen in time. I could feel the intensity of their desires. I expected what they were going to do next. Would a tukaan be the next move? I tried not to look. Malapit na akong mainggit. They were whispering at each other.

love birds

Their body language screamed they are not married, to each other. How did I know for sure? Kung mag-asawa yan, hindi yan magtititigan. Yung isa, sa bintana titingin. O sa kusina. “Ang tagal naman ng pagkain. Waiter follow up nga gutom na kami”. Yung isa naman, mag te text sa ibang tao, magpe facebook while waiting for their food. Tapos pag dating ng food, one of them would say “kain na tayo, lalamig”. Tapos habang ngumunguya, nagte text pa rin. “Sila ano pala nasa Rome…” “Tingnan mo pictures nila”. Gusto mo bang makita kung anong hitsura ni Aling Pukekeng? Eto nasa facebook”.

I didn’t enjoy my meal. Firstly, inggit ako dun sa love birds sa harap ko. Secondly, bitin naman ako dito sa crab. Walang makain, payatot.
