Creating a culture of violence - Oh My Buhay

Creating a culture of violence

Atty. Raymond Fortun came by my office this afternoon. Kwentuhan lang kami. Kagagaling lang yata nya sa trangkaso.

He told me 9 out of ten Filipinos approve the extra- judicial killings supposedly to stop the illegal drug trade. I think that’s in the newspapers today. He’s worried that we are actually creating a culture of violence and lawlessness. Nakaposas na babarilin pa. There could be a lot of innocent people who are not actually into drugs and yet basta na lang sila babarilin.

I came across a news report that some policemen barged into someone’s home and killed two people. Sana hinuli na lang at ikinulong kung suspetsang mga pushers. What happens to the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial? Di ba our constitution says that a person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt?

  1. Hello Ms. Annie, these drug-doers, kidnappers, killers that are being killed are listed. They are on the list if they are repeaters or known to habitually deal drugs. The rich ones are jailed but do their operations inside the bilibid. They are cancer cells that need aggressive treatment or else will metastasize. the collective voice of the people is the voice of god.

    1. Hi Bamba,

I hope and pray that we Filipinos will live in peace and harmony. Pres. Duterte has our prayers and support. May every Filipino regardless of status in life live in peaceful co-existence with our surroundings. It’s a basic human right to be able to go outside, safe and free.
      God bless.

  2. Good morning Ms Annie.. That’s the sad and scary part.. These random killings which are now prevalent all over the Philippines is sending the WRONG MESSAGE to the trigger-happy VIGILANTES.. Most of the killings are unwarranted and never even went through due process,, 🙁

More often than not, they are NOT even SURE of their victims were indeed, GUILTY.. As the saying goes, DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES.. 🙁

Perhaps the so-called CLEAN UP is exactly what it is.. There is a possibility that those who are behind the drug syndicates are the very SAME PERSONS behind the rampant DRUG SYNDICATE SHAKEUP AND KILLINGS.. 🙁

Perhaps we, the citizens, should be more cautious wherever we go.. I am no longer sure if we are still safe in our own homes.. If they (policemen) can just come and barge their way into someone else’s home and pull the trigger, then WHO ELSE WILL PROTECT US from people like them?

Take care and be well, Ms Annie.. God bless u and the family.. Enjoy ur weekend..

    God bless us all…
