The latest info that reached me was that the population of Binangonan, Rizal has tipped the 300,000 mark. I don’t know how accurate this is. But it could be. One can very well notice and feel how crowded the town is. Aside from the “lehitimong taga doon”, there are thousands of “dayuhan” from other towns and provinces. The not so good info that I’ve heard many times is that many undesirables have transfered to Binangonan to avoid being arrested or found for the crimes they have committed in other towns. I hope this is not so.
Maybe, others relocate because the cost of living is comparatively cheaper in Binangonan.
I was also told that more than a thousand tricycles ply the narrow streets of this Rizal town, add the rapidly growing number of residents who own motorcycles.
I am not surprised at all, with the absence of a sidewalk, one could barely walk in the streets without being honked at or whizzed-by by passing vehicles.
At the rate the child-bearing residents of Binangonan produce children, the quality of life in this town could deteriorate.
I took a few photos during my quick visit to Binangonan on October 8.
Many stalls have set-up in the town plaza in preparation for the annual town fiesta and feast of St. Ursula on October 21, 2011. I wouldn’t be able to watch the annual pagoda parade on this day.

These old ladies were scared that I would bring them to the munisipyo, and put them in jail for playing Bingo. I laughed. They were so cute.
