Current Events August 2017 - Oh My Buhay

Current Events August 2017

1. A friend of mine from the PCCI was teasing me about Tish Bautista.
“Di ba close kayo ni Tish?” I didn’t know who he was referring to at first.
I had to ask “Sino’ng Tish?” Yun pala the estranged wife of Comelec Chairman Andy Bautista. I’ve been really busy and I haven’t watched Bandila or Saksi lately. I caught a short clip of the passbooks.
Ang tuksuhan namin ngayon ay “tingnan ko passbooks mo”.
They were saying that the bank’s capitalization is only 1.2B. If those alleged accounts are withdrawn, that bank will collapse.

2. Mugshots of accused individuals, whether they are elected officials, government employees, private citizens, must not be released by the police to the public out of respect, especially, in the case of senators like Gringo Honasan. They are not proven guilty and not yet convicted so in deference to them, the police should spare them of humiliation. In the case of Senator Honasan, I am 100% sure the case would be dismissed or he would be found NOT GUILTY.

3. I am scared of earthquakes. Who isn’t? That’s one of my fears and once in a while I dream of earthquakes. Sometimes I would wake up my husband in the middle of the night. “Tart may earthquake, may earthquake”.
He would tell me “Walaaa, go back to sleep”.

4. I hope the bird flu in Pampanga is contained and eradicated. Poultry workers are at risk of catching it directly from the chickens. A greater danger looms if they infect their families and the cycle goes on. HUman to human transmission is airborne and that could affect thousands of people.

5. I need some dollars to pay for my credit cards and other obligations but the peso has weakened. Two weeks ago it was 50.20 sad I wasn’t able to buy because I was too busy. Ngayon, 51.20 na! Sayang ang piso. I hope the peso recovers fast. The peace and order situation in Mindanao is affecting business in a negative way. Let there be peace, unity and stability in our country.

6. I want to fly to Florida. I will go to the golf course of Donald Trump to confiscate his cellphone so that he cannot tweet anymore.

7. The residents in Guam must be having sleepless nights. I am deeply worried too about the missile launches of North Korea. America should stop Mr. Trump from engaging in thoughtless word war. I remember what FVR told me when I visited his office last October 2016. That World War III is a matter of when. He said 20 years is too long. Even 10. With what’s happening now, only God knows.

While we were at the church last Saturday, I wanted to pray for world peace but I didn’t know how to begin, what to say. The thought that there would be war was beyond my imagination. My mind was blank. Well, God knows our fears and prayers.

Kakainis ano? Sana magsabunutan na lang si Trump at si Kim Jong Un wag na tayong isali. Nananahimik tayo dito eh madadamay pa tayong lahat.

I told my family we should move to Iceland. I am serious. Very very seriyos. Magtago tayo sa igloo.
There are no riding in tandem, no terrorists, no akyat-bahay in Iceland.
It’s farther away from the missile paths. My son suggested Switzerland. I want to see Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) in the sky, not North Korea’s missiles.

Let’s go to bed each night with gratitude in our hearts. Let’s hug our family often and say I love you always.
