On our last day, the tour guide picked us up from the hotel at 11 am. But we were able to leave at 11:30 because I was chatting with Vicky Abad, one of the owners of Fundacion Pacita.
The tour guide brought us to the South of Batan Island. We passed endless narrow roads under construction and what would be Batanes’ own Great Wall of China.
Batanes is blessed with amazing seascapes and landscapes. I didn’t know where to look, left or right, as most of the time, the narrow road is in between bangins.
Our first stop was at the Tayid Lighthouse
Another lighthouse built in 2000 on a private land but with the permission of the owner.
The view from this spot is more stunning because it’s closer to the water.
It has a commanding view of the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, some pasture land, breath-taking cliffs.
The wind is much stronger too from this hill para akong liliparin. The tour guide keeps laughing at me because I looked like Marilyn Monroe, panay ang lipad ng palda ko. I should’ve worn shorts instead of skirt.
No restaurants in this area, kaya the tour operators arrange for catering services.
No buffet, just sit down and wait for surprises.
This is our favorite. Pork lonis daw according to the waiter at Fundacion. Hindi kaya pork loin? It’s fried pork adobo. Masarap at malakas sa kanin.
Not one touched the ginisang talong and kalabasa.
Bola-bolang bola, I forgot what it was. Masarap din.
Oyen returned this kuhol / escargot / snail to the food server. We don’t eat this, sayang lang.
Edmund chose to stay in bed while we toured Marlboro Hills . He got tired from the Sabtang boat ride and tour the day before.
We walked to the far end of the hill after lunch.
We’re still traveling for a few hours, kailangan mag-wee-wee na muna.
Terrible. No choice.
I didn’t want to step on the flooring, nilinis ko muna. Drained the water that gathered on the floor. Kasi pag-umapak ako, lulubok ang tsinelas ko. Ka diri.
Batanes’ landscape is spectacular, but the local government and tour organizers must provide better facilities for tourists.
