Days in Las Vegas - Oh My Buhay

An average of at least 100,000 people a day visit Las Vegas either for leisure, conference, exhibit or business. This figure does not include the estimated 3,000 persons a day who relocate to Las Vegas to find jobs and better opportunities, and to spend less for housing and cost of living.

For the majority, Las Vegas is the fun city. You come here to eat, play in the casino, watch amazing dancers, singers and comedians. To come here and not play a single slot machine would be ridiculous to most. Not my husband,
we were in Las Vegas for a week and yet he didn’t drop a single coin in the Pokemon-looking slot machines that are situated where you go. I did spend a couple of bucks playing the one with one with some cowboy-looking cartoons. AS I have expected it, the machine ate my $20 and game me a $.13 change. I lost $19.87 in just 15 minutes. But that’s not so bad. It’s fun. And it was the only game I played from the time we checked in to the time we checked out.
One would think that our days in Las Vegas were spent exploring the city and the grand resort casinos but no, we were busy everyday doing simple things like eating in Asian restaurants every single day, going to IKEA to eat meatballs and the $1 soft ice cream. Just seating there and relaxing.

We did go to the premium outlet which is only less than 10 minutes drive from the Strip. It was not fun to shop because it was searing hot. Even at 8 pm, it was still uncomfortably warm.

And believe it or not, Edmund and I still have jet-lags from our previous flights that’s why we were not hyper.

On our first night, instead of going to a bar at 10 pm, we drove outside of the Strip to look for a restaurant still open. We went to KFC this time, not in Popeye the sailor man.

They were about to close in about 20 minutes.

It was so quiet, I could only hear ourselves.

The next day, instead of having brunch at Giada’s, we preferred to have Filipino food. Rice, paksiw na bangus, calderetang baka, sinigang na baboy and sobrang makulay na langgonisa. Remind me next time not to order this langgonisa again.

Question: How come nowadays even in the Philippines people no longer remove the scales and gills? Kinakain na ngayon. Nung araw, my mom gets mad when she sees one single scale left on the fish. Dapat yan tinatanggal daw at itinatapon. Ngayon siguro mahirap na ang buhay kaya dapat kainin na rin. I couldn’t eat it, I removed each and every kaliskis.

We always feel at home dining with our kababayan. It’s also our way of patronizing their business. Syempre dapat meron tayong malasakit sa isa’t-isa kahit saan mang-sulok ng mundo tayo magkita.

We made usyoso also one of the grocery stores that’s near the Filipino restaurant.

Edmund wanted to buy a beverage container so we went to Homegoods in Spring Valley. I was too tired and sleepy to browse around the store.
I just looked for a spot to sit down while waiting for Edmund, till I spotted these two tall chickens.
These two metal chickens would be perfect at the porch in the farm. Ang laki, hindi kasya sa balikbayan box.

I love this weight-light chairs but Edmund didn’t want me to get them although they were very cheap. Mahirap bitbitin.
E—–“Saan mo ilalagay yan?”
A—–“Sa bahay”.
E—–“Marami ka pang makikita na mas-maganda dyan”.
A—–“But I like them”.

I felt so bad leaving behind this two aqua blue chairs.

Hot & Juicy Cray Fish restaurant in Spring Mountain Blvd.

I requested for baby spice but I think the pretty food attendant forgot. The cdray fish came too hot for my mouth.

Edmund paid $34.62 plus tips.

We discovered that Spring Mountain is several miles long with dozens of Asian restaurants, foot spa and massage.

At the end of the avenue is Target. Husband said he needed to buy some personal care products.

We’ve been seeing lots of women at the Strip wearing bikinis. They were not swimming, but promenading around the hotel lobbies and Strip. Visitors wore short shorts, bikini tops and really skimpy outfits for summer. Even the fat and old don’t care about what other people say. We see them crossing the street with protruding buts, sagging breasts and screaming bellies. Edmund said Las Vegas is the land of free self expression. Of fantasies and dreams. Men and women just wear anything they want. If you want to do that too, imagine you’re as sexy as Jlo, Las Vegas is the place to be.

A—-“Tart, bibili nga ako ng bikini. Magsusuot rin ako pareho nung iba, kahit malaki ang tyan”.
E—-“Bababa ang hotel rates nyan”.
(He has no respect for me.)
