Dead Poinsettias - Oh My Buhay

I bought a pot of red poinsettias from Lowe’s on December 2.

The leaves are so red and fresh.

That same night, the strong winds knocked off the pot. The stems came off the pot and I discovered they had no roots. Para bang itinusok lang.
I planted the stems one by one back into the pot hoping that they would remain fresh till January 5. They didn’t. Even if I watered them everyday, the leaves continued to wilt and die. I felt hinayang because I paid $32 for the pot including the sales tax.

When I mentioned this in passing to my friend at a dinner, Sylvia advised me to return the pot to Lowe’s. I didn’t think of that. Oo nga pala, dito pala sa America pwede ang return or exchange.

The next day, I loaded the pot into the back of the SUV and brought them back to Lowe’s

The cashier didn’t ask me why. But I volunteered the reason for the return anyway. “It’s not yet Christmas and it’s dead already”. He nodded in agreement. “Mam, your $32 will be credited back to your American Express”.
