I enjoyed my breakfast at the Helmhaus Hotel. The food choices were simpler but well-chosen to please guests. The hotel staff made me feel welcome and she showed genuine concern for me after she noticed my arm. She was always asking me if there was something else that I needed. She was like that to everybody. She was very efficient, serving all of us with speed all by herself. She was the one refilling the food trays, making beverages, cooking eggs, clearing the tables, washing the dishes, etc. I saw her at the front desk earlier that morning at 7. She told me she had to come early to prepare the breakfast. Sad to say I don’t see that kind of dedication and efficiency in the Philippines. Masyado tayong mga senyorita at senyorito, ang cashier hindi pwedeng utusan magtapon ng basura nya, mao-offend. Puro tayo pride chicken, na wala naman sa ayos.
I helped the hotel staff by clearing my own table and bringing the dishes I used to the kitchen. When she saw me she told me I didn’t have to do that. That was the least I could do kasi ilang araw na sya mabait sa akin.
