I tried buying two Diana Ross concert the tickets online while we were driving to Vegas but I couldn’t finish the transaction because of bad connections. I called American Express and they secured the tickets for me. Amex has very good customer service. Call and they can get tickets to most events, book you a room. In August 1993, after I found out that Michael Jackson was having his Dangerous Tour concert in Singapore, I contacted Amex and they were able to get me one ticket. Except that it was not in the center. It was close to the stage but on the far left. Michael Jackson wasn’t feeling well, he was suffering from acute vascular headache, so the concert was postponed by two days. I got stuck in Singapore. Naalala ko lang bigla si Michael Jackson kasi he and Diana Ross were close friends.
June 5, 2019 Diana Ross concert
We arrived at the Encore Theater in Wynn Hotel and Casino just a few minutes before the concert started. I was impressed that they started right on the dot, unlike Celine Dion who was about 45 minutes late when we watched her concert in Caesars Palace.
The former lead singer of the Supremes looks amazing at 75. Nagulat ako when she went on stage, I have more wrinkles than her.
We were on the 6th row from the stage, close enough except that these two ladies were standing and I couldn’t see much. ‘day ‘day’ upo nga!
The Encore Theater was full up to the balcony section. Edmund was wondering how much is Diana Ross paid every concert night. $20,000 ang hula nya. Sabi ko that would be too small. It must be much more than that. Ang mahal din ng ticket. She is reportedly paid $125,000 a night in her Las Vegas show. I don’t know if that’s accurate.
She was suffering from itchy throat during the concert. She kept on drinking hot tea. Many times she didn’t finish her song, but rather, her back-up singers continued singing the song for her.
Edmund and I were familiar with her songs. They became hits when we were in high school and college. Until now, some of her songs are played regularly like this one, I will survive.
