Yen and Edmund were attending a wedding somewhere in Antipolo and I was in Tagaytay by myself. For several minutes I was like “shall I go out to eat or not?” I went out not knowing where to go. By the time I decided to eat out, it was already 8 pm. I didn’t want to have a full meal, maybe salad?
It took us half hour to get out of Lake Hotel’s parking area. It was a combination of super tight spaces, fully occupied, and my van was massive. It was dark and raining. Driver hit the plastic cones, he also hit the sidewalk, glad he didn’t hit any of the parked cars. We were only able to navigate our way out with the help of two security guards.
I told the driver to bring me to Cliff House. Of course he didn’t know where it was. Kasi he only relied on on the spot directions— ikaliwa mo dyan, ikanan mo, diretso lang, kabigin mo.
Cliff house has very tight driveway and parking spaces. I didn’t want to get stuck for another half hour just to get out of this area so I told the driver to just park at the entrance. I just walked down to the restaurant area.
Buon Giorno at Cliff House serves tuna salad nicoise and so does Fire Lake Grill. I went to Fire Lake instead.
Fire Lake Grill consistently made it to the list of Top Restaurants in Tagaytay and has received awards as one of the Best Restaurants in the country.
It’s always a good to be back here. The moment I sat down, I felt home.
I haven’t dined here for a long time because the restaurant closes mid day on weekdays. When we’re in Tagaytay on midweeks, we normally take our lunch late, like 3 pm.
Chef Paul Yang’s tuna salad is my new favorite.
The pineapple carpaccio is another long time favorite dessert of mine, beginning from the very first time I tasted it, maybe some 15 years ago.

Alone time is good once in a while
That’s true Angel. It’s also nice to have some solitude once in a while.
