My husband plays golf during the day while I chill out the whole day in the room, just relaxing, practicing what I do best, the art of doing nothing.
At night, we explore new places to eat.
Tonight’s date night. We’re both in the mood for some top-notch steak and thanks to Trip Advisor’s list of top steak houses in Palm Springs and Indian Wells, we are going to Ruth’s Chris for dinner, reputedly belonging to the top 3 or 5.
It’s a short drive from our hotel. Direcho tapos kanan.
I have high hopes but Edmund tells me to lower my expectations.
Hmmmm, he is right. The lobster bisque needs more taste and less water. It’s not bad but it doesn’t represent Ruth’s Chris’s high praises. A little repair could catapult this soup from mediocre to great.
The dishes are delicious but not plated beautifully.
The absence of fancy presentation is obviously intentional. This is their freestyle, however I am used to some artistic platings. Ruth’s Chris is different. I get that exept that food must be visually appealing.
The plate looks small for the t-bone steak’s enormous size. I must admit that I find this plating “unkempt”. The waiter told us that they only choose the top 2% quality steak. Served like this doesn’t scream “the best steak”. Maybe the restaurant wants to surprise us. Don’t judge a steak by how it looks. This is certainly delicious.
Edmund says this is comparable to the steak at Metronome in Makati. He can’t decide though which one is better. Maybe they are toe-to-toe. He’s happy.
My order comes with this dessert. I don’t remember what it’s called but it’s good.
When we are with Oyen and Nyke, or either of the two, they are the ones double-checking the bill, computing and deciding how much tip to give.
Back at the hotel at 8:03 pm.
We’re back at the hotel.
