One of the most popular and well-recommended caterers around the Sonoma Valley is the girl & the fig. They happen to have a French restaurant in Downtown Sonoma so we thought it would be best to dine there to investigate their food. The catering menu may be different from their restaurant menu but we would be able to more or less gauge their culture, kind of service, and food, based on our dining experience at their restaurant.
We liked the menu choices.
Oyen wants to serve raclette at her wedding reception. I don’t recommend this for big events. I told her raclette is more suited for intimate parties say for 20 px, not for 200.
The first dish passed our criteria. The mussels and fries were delicious if that was any indication. The french fries were great we ordered another bowl. Oyen said she would definitelys serve french fries at her wedding. Tipid yan, samahan na lang natin ng burger and catsup.
The two-legs duck confit was good but not great.
The crispy chicken thigh was nine over ten. Oyen loved it and plans to include the chicken among the entree choices.
Oyen wants to serve a lot of food. When she discussed her ideas with the caterer, the guy / or girl, commented “this is a lot of food”. She was asked to choose between a salad or a soup, I suggested to have soup instead. Tila maginaw sa gabi baka gusto ng mga bisita mainit na sabaw.
This lavender creme brulee was infused with the right amount of lavender fragrance and it’s not overly sweet. This would likely make it to Oyen’s dessert table.
Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with cold milk drink. The cookies were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I don’t think the texture would remain like that after a few hours.

Oyen has received their wedding packages price list. The menu looked yummy. They are different from the restaurant menu. The price is also reasonable. With everything that my daughter wants to feed to her guests, the price is estimated to be $200++ per person. There’s a catch though. The price doesn’t include plates, glasses, cups, saucers, cutlery, etc. They would rent and pass on the cost to the client. The rent for the plates is over $5,000!! I told Oyen with $5,000 I can go shopping for plates and we even get to keep them after the party. paper plates na lang kaya? The advantage of having your own plates is you can choose what kind, color, motif you want and not just the generic ivory white that most caterers use.
