With the current Like and Share buttons on Facebook, people are forced to look at the posts positively. If they don’t like a certain post, they can just ignore it or click unfollow. Adding a third option of a Dislike button encourages people to be critical of other people’s posts and see things negatively. Their company see this as another way to create activity on their site. However, it could backfire because there would be lesser people posting publicly for fear of someone clicking the Dislike button. The world is already full of negativity and pessimism. What we need is something that would make people be kinder to each other and not to encourage criticisms and hate.

  1. My sentiments too Ms. A. I do get annoyed with people’s Facebook posts once in a while but the thing is, it’s their opinion – it’s their wall – who am I to say they’re wrong. I think the “Hide Post” option is more than enough.
