When I asked Edmund the other day who would be UST’s next opponent, he said DLSU. He added that La Salle is the team to beat.
E—“Ang lakas ng La Salle. Ang galing ng import nila”.
A—“Malay mo”.
E—“Naku, para silang bumangga sa pader”.
We couldn’t watch the ballgame today at Mall of Asia Sports Arena because we had several meetings. When we were on our way home, he said even if UST loses their game to DLSU, it would be a good experience and as long as they put up a good fight.
When we arrived home, he was able to catch the third and fourth quarters. I didn’t watch. The minute he opened the tv I heard him yelling. Naku nagmumura na, rinig sa kabilang barrio.
When I entered our room, he said talo by 21 points. Oh. I thought, sana less than 10 points lang ang lamang.
After about half hour more, he came out of the room and told me forty points.
A—-“Ang alin?”
Yun pala when he told me talo by 21 points, the game wasn’t over yet.
Nadagdagan pa pala ang tambak. Forty points.
A—-“Magdidiwang yung OMB reader ko. Sasabihin I told you so”.
Hahaha.
It’s Boy Sablan’s birthday today.
A—-“Oh, kala ko lalabas ka may dinner kayo?”
E—-“Hindi na, ang pait ng pagkain nyan, talo”.
I think I’ve mentioned it before, I was muse of the DLSU MBA basketball team during Magellan’s time. This’ the reason why between Ateneo and La Salle, syempre La Salle ako except when they are against UST, UST ako win or lose.
Go USTe. Let’s go home, super tambak tayo. Let’s cover our faces too.

Since this is a game between the teams which are predicted to be poles apart, the result is not unexpected except perhaps the margin of victory of the one which is at least sure of being in the Final Four and the one which belongs to the Bottom Four.
The thirty-eight point (not forty) blow-out loss of UST will be the difference of score to beat this Season if not in many years to come.
The Growling Tigers become again the effeminate Glowing Goldies. They were massacred. They were gored. It was a mayhem. That it happened during the birthday of their coach added to the ignominy of the debacle. You are correct that it is but fitting for the players and coaching staff to cover their (not yours) faces. What happened today is not fair for the thousands of UST students who are paying their athletics fees to bring them to the arena only to be humiliated like this.
