I spent last Friday night alone in Tagaytay. I was hoping my cough would clear with Tagaytay’s fresh air and cold breeze.
The next day, Edmund joined me. He came from golf and looked sun-burned.
He arrived at 4 pm and by 5 pm, he started complaining of hunger. I reserved a table at Don Limone Grill for 7:30 pm. Hindi naman pala sila puno kaya we went na lang at 5:30 pm. We were just wearing tsinelas and t-shirts.
They have a small garden but big enough to accommodate a dozen diners.
One needs to wear flat soled sandals or shoes to walk comfortably on a bed of gravel.
A blue fountain accentuates their al fresco dining
Murals are everywhere. This is the largest mural in the restaurant
The mezzanine also has murals.
The hues are rich and dark which makes the place cozy.
I came from the farm so my first destination was the washroom. It was also dark in that area.
The waitress said it’s owned by an American guy and that she has never seen him ever. When I asked who’s managing the place since the owner does not go there. She said there’s a manager.
There was a tall lady (in stripes long sleeves polo shirt), walking around the restaurant checking things out. The waitress said that’s the chef and the manager. I Googled for more info and I found out that Chef Betty is actually the owner.
We had a short conversation with her regarding the dishes, her culinary journey, etc.
According to the restaurant’s owner, Chef Betty, who is the wife of former New York chef, Allen, every month they’re going to offer different regional Italian dishes inspired by their travels to the Mediterranean. She didn’t want to have her photo taken kasi daw she’s shy.
Their specialty is lamb but Edmund and I don’t eat lamb.
We ordered Leek and Mushroom Bisque
Complimentary focaccia bread with strawberry jam
The minute the waitress placed this on our table, I already noticed it was ab bit dry. I am trying to remember how it tasted, no memory sorry which could only mean this dish is forgettable.
The waitress recommended this Mixed Espetada.
I ate most of the grilled chicken and moroccan rice. We didn’t like the ground beef sirloin. The chicken was way better.
Chef Betty asked Edmund “do you want baklava? We have baklava”.
Edmund——-“Ayaw ko, sobrang matamis”.
She gave Edmund a slice, I didn’t taste it, matamis pero not as sweet as those in Turkey.
Grabe kasi yung natikman namin na baklava in Turkey. Parang minatamis na asukal.
Don Limone are proud of their cheesecakes. I tried their specialty that bears their name, limoncello cheesecake. This was good, not so sweet, but I couldn’t taste the lemon. There were lemon bits but very subtle lemon taste.
I would like to bring Yen and Nyke to this restaurant. My son likes lamb dishes. I would order Espetada for myself but all chicken. Delicious. I also want to try their Seafood Cioppino.
Edmund paid P2,200 I think.

Oo nga pala, Emilio Aguinaldo itong trafficway na ito.
There are many places in the country named after Emilio Aguinaldo. I do not like him. We should re-evaluate his participation in our history. Let’s re-think whether he’s worthy of reverence.
