Drive by Tracy and Lathrop

I have always been curious about the cities of Tracy and Lathrop. I’ve met several Filipinos living in Tracy before and just recently, have met another Filipina who bought a brand new house in Lathrop which according to her had doubled in market value in just two years.

Today, we drove around several cities. Mabilis lang kami kasi dikit-dikit lang sila.
We first went to Pittsburg, then passing through the cities of Antioch, Brentwood, Mountain House, Tracy, then to Lathrop.

We saw a house with a for sale sign.  It was listed for a little over a million dollars.

Many Bay Area residents are moving to outside cities like Pittsburg, Oakley, Stockton, Brentwood, Tracy, Mountain House, Elk Grove, and Lathrop too because the house prices here are considerably lower than those in the Bay. The house prices in these suburbs are steadily climbing with prices reaching $900,000 to $1.5M but still lower compared to buying a tiny 1957 bungalow in Pleasanton for $1.9M.

The temperature  in Lathrop is hotter than in the Bay Area and the land is flat.   We didn’t get off the car kasi ang init.
Lathrop, Blackbear Diner

We kept going and forgot we needed to eat lunch.   We wanted to go to Tracy’s commercial area hoping we could find a nice modern restaurant but we got lost. We kept driving to the opposite direction.  We turned around and when I saw Black Bear Diner, I told my husband dito na lang kami kumain kasi nakakapagod to look for a restaurant.

Black Bear DINER, Juke box
Soup for ECY.

I don’t even remember what I ate.   This could be ground beef or hamburger steak.

Black Bear’s New York Steak was surprisingly tender and delicious.

Edmund ordered coffee, I skipped dessert.
