We couldn’t find a taxi from Chinatown. There were cabs but they were charging us a fixed rate and not by the meter. Oyen called Grab instead. The first one went past us so Oyen canceled the trip and called another one.
It was hot to wait by the sidewalk so we waited for about 10 minutes inside a 7/11 convenience store.

sleepy grab driver

The Grab driver was so sleepy. And how did I know for sure? He was yawning all the time. It was obvious he was trying his damn best to keep his eyes open. He would slouch then sit-up straight, stretch his neck left and right, yawn and yawn again. He would move his legs as if wanting to stretch out his legs and move his feet. He was not only drowsy, I think he was also very tired. I was worried he could fall asleep on the wheel and we could get into an accident. He posed danger to his passengers (me and Oyen), and to the other motorists as well.

All you drivers out there, whether you are a taxi, bus, truck, jeepney, tricycle, sleep, take a nap, umidlip muna kesa maka aksidente kayo. Huwag kumuha ng pasahero, matulog muna.

If you are driving your private vehicle, when you are sleepy please look for the nearest exit or gasoline station, mall, or any safe parking, and stop driving. Take a nap. In split second you can get hurt, get killed or hurt other people if you fall asleep while driving.
