Traffic is time consuming. When we went to Balay Dako it took an extra 30 minutes so for our second night we just went to Bag of Beans Cafe and Restaurant which was closer to where we were coming from. The heavy traffic was near the cluster of restaurants going to the Rotonda.
Bag of Beans has evolved from a simple restaurant under a kamalig-type place into this beautiful, artistic and sophisticated dining destination, a constant favorite of travelers and voted as one of Tagaytay’s top restaurants together with Antonio’s, Sonia’s Garden, Balay Dako, Firelake Grill, Buon Giorno, Moreli’s.
They now have a big charming hall for weddings and parties.
My husband was impressed with the owners’ attention to detail.
It was a bit early for dinner at 5:30 pm.
We ordered pasta and pizza, more like heavy merienda.
My shrimp pasta was flavorful. I will order this again next time. Edmund’s bolognese was “okay lang” according to him.
It was not cold in Tagaytay when we were there. Tamang-tama lang to have a light / thin shawl.
Edmund ordered this pizza. His appreciation of the decor and ambiance was destroyed by their disappointing pizza pie. The doe was a big MISS while the toppings were below par either.
I admire how Bag of Beans is able to maximize every inch of their space. Every few months there’s something new and it’s always an upgrade. Their interior designers are very good. I would like to hire them to do my bahay kubo that has remained unfinished. If you know who their interior designer is / are, call me maybe?
I want to have a big solid natural tree trunk for my dining table but my husband said it’s not going to suit our cottage house. Dehins daw bagay. Next na lang daw pag meron na akong log cabin. Ha! Eto ngang bahay kubo hindi matapos eh log cabin pa. Baka abutin na ako ng 70 years old.

On second thought, it doesn’t have to be a full log cabin. It can be a simple room maybe 5 meters wide and 6 meters deep (5M x 6M = 30 square meters). I just need to use repurposed wood to make it look authentic. Sige nga let’s do it after I’ve finished our cottage house maybe in 2022. It seems so far away. Dreaming is free. Everything starts with a dream.
