ENT - Oh My Buhay

The name Dr. Benjamin Campomanes was among the three ENT doctors recommended to me by Dr. Yu except that the two times we called his clinic, he was not there. I ended up seeing another ENT doctor a few weeks ago from St. Luke’s in Quezon City with a very dilapidated clinic and antiquated medical equipment.

I was supposed to rush today to Cardinal to see another ENT but a friend of mine suggested that I go see Dr. Campomanes instead. My office was able to contact his secretary, and he was in his clinic but up to 1 pm only.

I detoured. Instead of going to the office from Macapagal Avenue, I went straight to St. Luke’s. Oh God, at 11:40 am, EDSA was like a parking space. Vehicles were squeezed together. Grabe #1. I was almost giving up. Imagine, from Magallanes interchange, I reached St. Luke’s at 12:40 pm.

My driver couldn’t drop me off at the hospital entrance because vehicles were also buhol-buhol. Grabe #2. Gusto ko ng umiyak. The doctor kasi would be going out of the country for a week. If I missed him today, I had to wait till next week.

Eto pa, since, buhol buhol nga in front of Medical Arts Building, nalampas pa kami, napunta ako sa main building. I had to walk to Medical Arts Building. Nay ko it was already 12:47 pm. As if those were not enough to give me anxiety attacks, the elevators were so slow and tagal. I looked for the stairs, naghagdan na lang ako, 3 flights pero second floor lang.

I got to his clinic at 12:55 pm. Hay swerte. There was one patient still inside. I was able to say hi pa to Governor Bojie Dy and his wife Anne who were waiting for another doctor. Gov. Dy told me “magaling yan, sya rin ang doctor ko” referring to Dr. Campomanes.

His clinic was 100 years more advanced than the clinic of the other ENT doctor I visited in St. Luke’s QC.

His equipments were also more modern and they all looked newer.

He gave me antibiotics and a nasal spray.

Mometasone and Clindamycin

He said I should get better or else we have to do a CT Scan. That scared me.
That made me hu hu hu hu.

I bought the medicine at once from the pharmacy on the ground floor. I went to Via Mare in the hospital’s restaurant section so I could sit down, drink and take my capsule. The restaurant was like a palengke, sobrang daming tao, dikit-dikit rin, parang traffic.

I wanted to sit and rest for a few minutes more but the place was too noisy and crowded. I left and proceeded to the main lobby where my driver would pick me up. As a general rule, it’s easier and simpler for the driver to pick me up where he dropped me off. Maliligaw pa yun pag naiba.

There’s an art exhibit at the lobby just like in Cardinal Hospital.

I was advised to rest and avoid the crowd so from the hospital, I went straight home. Nay ko, It took one and a half hours for an eight kilometer distance. Grabe #3.

I was glad I went to Dr. Campomanes today.
I was glad he gave me antibiotics.
I am hopeful that before the week ends, I would feel a lot better and the persistent cough would be gone. Oh please Lord. Please.
