According to Butch Arimado, who’s running for councilor in Binangonan, one 30 year old male died of heart attack on Black Saturday. The guy was among the thousands who joined the yearly Good Friday procession. Bumuhat sa Santo Entierro, nasobrahan siguro sa pagod, paghiga, hindi na nagising. Every year someone dies after the procession, maybe from the heat and exhaustion. Life.
It is my wish to be able to come back to this town every Good Friday to witness this. To me, this is praying with God face to face. That night was particularly difficult because I was going through a lot of problems. I was also distracted, I was exhausted and weary but somehow I managed to look at the Santo Entierro and said a little prayer. More than ever, I needed His help. Greatly. I trusted that He knew what it was all about. Di ba ang sabi, God knows everything that happened, what’s happening and what will happen in our lives.
I wish next year would be different. I wish when I stand here watching Him, my heart would be full of peace and joy.
Last friday’s procession ended the next day. They were in front of where we were stationed at exactly 6 pm but after 7:30 pm, the lull came. The giwang-giwang arrived at maybe 11:30 pm. The last santo reached our spot at midnight, and they still have dozen more blocks to cover. I wonder what time they reached the church.
We gave that female scavenger two sacks full of plastic cups.
We left at 12:15 a.m. and arrived home before 1 a.m. Mabilis ang byahe pagmadaling araw.
