Angel brought packs of candies from the Philippines including Choc-Nut.
We Filipinos like to stay in air conditioned rooms while the Americans prefer to be under the sun.
We were blessed with a good weather on this day. Although it was sunny, there was cool breeze which made the afternoon very pleasant. But inside the house we have blasting air condition set at 67 degrees.
Atty. Ryan Tan, Ryan’s friend Jessica, Dr. Ricardo III, Ricardo IV (3rd year Mechanical Engineering student) with mom Jennifer.
Kuya Romy’s assignment was to cook pinalos na kanduli. His family was late, they arrived at 2 pm. We were all waiting for the kanduli. When the dish arrived, lusob ang mga matatanda. Ate Linda got the buntot, Kuya Junior couldn’t decide which part to get, napunta sa kanya yung ulo.
I couldn’t eat yet because I was busy. When I decided to eat rice and pinalos, there was no more fish, only a half cup of pinalos sauce was left. Ginawa kong rice topping na lang.
Ang daming nilutong lugaw ni Aileen, parang good for 100 people. After a while lumapot na nawala ang sabaw that’s why we had to keep on adding more water.
Len brought hotdogs Philippine style. Ganyan kasi sa Binangonan, merong mga tindero nag-iihaw ng hotdog sa kalye. Kunwari nasa Binangonan kami.
Jackie’s contribution was this tray of calamares. Very crispy.
Dimple and Kuya Lito arrived late too. All my nephews and grand children who were born in the USA are turon-fed and turon-bred. They were were waiting for the turon with excitement kaya when Dimple arrived, sugod mga pamangkin at apo. One box disappeared fast. I was busy picking up the sugar crusts falling on the carpet. Ang sakit lumakad, tumutusok sa paa ko. Dumidikit sa carpet. When I wanted to eat turon, ubos na. Wala na kahit isa.
Our photo wall:
Junjun (apo of Kuya Romy), Kay (wife of my nephew Ronnie), Jackie (wife of my nephew Sherwin), Eves, Len, me, the last 3 ladies are all my sisters in law, Dimple (wife of Kuya Lito), Ate Linda (wife of Kuya Junior), Ate Ella (wife of Kuya Romy). Absent is Ate Elsie, wife of my late Kuya Ben. She hopes to be present next year.
If you noticed, we’re all barefooted. No slippers / shoes, or any kind of footwear are allowed inside. The carpet is clean and white. Little kids, adults too, roll on the floor so we have to make sure the carpet is clean enough to touch their faces.
There are several May birthday celebrants in our family. Three of us were born on May 27. The two are twins Keifer and Mason who turned 15 this year.
My father was born in May too.
We prayed after eating kasi many arrived late and the others were already hungry.
In the absence of our parents and Kuya Ben, the five of us hope to keep our respective families close.
