I tried to avoid the fiesta mass goers in the morning so I purposely arrived in Pilapila after noon. I caught the tail-end of the mass baptism with 58 babies baptized.
I sat at the last row and waited till the crowd had thinned.
I was hoping no one would notice me. But someone did. They invited me to join Father Jeffrey for lunch. Merong handang salu-salo si Father Jeff kasi fiesta.
I couldn’t eat because I was very full. I had no intention na mamyesta, kumain, kaya I ate an early lunch before coming here. That’s what I usually do. Bago pumunta sa pista (pyesta, fiesta), kakain muna ako kasi ayaw kong makikain, nahihiya ako at ayaw kong mang-abala. Aside from giving me food, syempre e-entertainin pa nila ako.
I couldn’t keep on turning down their invitation for me to partake in the food. I agreed to eat gelatin na lang. I liked it kaya Father Jeffrey packed 4 containers for me. Nakakahiya.
Fr Jeffrey is a hardworking and dedicated priest. After this lunch, he still has to bless a house, lead a procession around the barrio, and celebrate the evening mass. He told me those only tire him physically. When he lays his head to sleep, tanggal na daw pagod nya. What is exhausting according to him is when church workers / volunteers fight and engage in petty issues. He said he has trouble dealing with women who are 40 years old and above. Kahit pagsabihan hindi mga nakikinig.
