Filipino-American Hospitality - Oh My Buhay

Filipino-American Hospitality

This is a delayed post.
After the Federal Phoenix’s sponsored holiday in New York ended, the group disbanded, only a few went straight home to Manila, the majority stayed behind in the US, to visit relatives, attend reunions, to see long-lost elementary classmates, and hang-out with friends. Someone is staying for a month. Others for another two weeks. Some would be joined by their families to go on a tour to Canada, etc. It’s rare to find a Filipino without a friend or relative living in America. Most people say that it’s actually tipid when traveling to the US because no need to stay in hotels and our hosts are more than willing to provide free airport service. There will always be someone who would offer their room or couch for a week’s stay. Syempre don’t abuse the Filipino – American hospitality, don’t over-stay. Don’t stay forever.

We are not an exception. We visited our relatives to enjoy delicious home-cooking. After a week of restaurant food in Manhattan, a big bowl of steaming hot sinigang na hipon is simply marvelous.
