I am cutting short my Cambridge posts to give way to my other scheds. I am so behind.
I flew from Boston to Las Vegas on July 20 to catch the Pacquiao boxing fight.
My flight was at 10 am so I got ready the night before.
Eto problema, no bell boy here. No one to help me carry my luggage up this steep and narrow stairs. It was hard and slow but I managed, one step at a time.
I had breakfast at 7 am. The breakfast area was on the basement.
Not much to choose from. Hard boiled eggs, breads, coffee. Pwede na ito, laman tyan lang. Ayaw ko na ng itlog, puro itlog na ako araw-araw. Walang katernong ham or sausage man lang.
Bye hotel. Despite the looks, I felt so at home here. It was so quiet inside the room and I felt comfortable.
Sulit na sulit na itong ibinili ko nitong mumurahin na maleta. Kung saan-saan na ito nakarating. Naka-around the world na. Hate na hate pa naman ito ni Mister Yee, baduy daw, mukhang cheap. Ang cute-cute nga eh.
I flew Delta. I was so busy and wasn’t able to pay attention to my booking. When I checked in, I requested for an aisle seat, wala na daw. I offered to pay pero wala na daw. When I reached the gate, I requested the ground crew to upgrade me to a better seat. She said wala na daw. I told her “I am willing to pay for an aisle seat and at the front”. She said wala na daw. When I told her I have a bladder problem, she immediately changed my seat to an aisle on the first row just behind the first-class seats. I asked how much, she said nothing. Wow, swerte ko. Syempre nag-thank you ako.
It was a fairly long flight, almost six hours. I couldn’t sleep naman. Siguro I dozed off for fifteen minutes then gising na gising na ako. I was seated beside an opthalmologist from Boston traveling to Las Vegas to scout for a convention venue for their association comprising of 25,000 delegates from all over the world.
He saw my iPad Pro. He said he would also buy one for himself because he likes the size. Of course, bigger is always better.
About two hours before landing the pilot announced that it would be turbulent so we should remain seated with seatbelts securely fastened. After he said that I got so nervous, turbulence!!! He said there’s a storm brewing so they would try to avoid it. I prayed and called on all the saints. Hay, awa ng Dyos, I didn’t feel any shake. The flight was so smooth.
As soon as I reached the airport, I felt the different vibe. Parang masaya dito.
This must be my 14th trip to Las Vegas.
We were directed to take a train to the baggage claim area. There’s a playful SAn Francisco mural on the wall of the new airport wing.
While I was packing last night, for some reason, I was worried I might lose my luggage. Aside from my handbag and sandals, my certificate was there, my class materials and more importantly my notes. The certificate and materials could be ordered from the school. But I was afraid to lose my notes. My personal notations on each of the topics. I was a little anxious while standing at the baggage claim area. I have a feeling I might lose my luggage.
I felt relieved when my luggage came out of the conveyor belt. A big and tall American guy helped me grab it. He saw me having difficulty getting it. I could only use my left hand, my right arm still hurts bad.
Yehey, my luggage arrived safe and intact.
My sister, my bro-in-law, and my sister-in-law drove to Vegas and arrived an hour ahead of me. They went shopping in Homegoods. Len messaged me to say that they’re at the Filipino restaurant and I should just go straight there. I told her I have my luggage. No problem naman daw. They would wait for me daw.
The Uber driver was a young fellow who moved to America to follow his girlfriend. He gave up everything he had in his own country to marry the girl he loved and live in Las Vegas. He said her character changed when they were already living together. They divorced after only a year. He decided to stay in Las Vegas to earn money.
I got off right in front of the Filipino restaurant. After only three steps walking towards the restaurant’s door, Oh shettttt. I forgot my luggage, It’s at the back of the car!!!!
When I turned, the car was no longer there. My instinct was to run. I couldn’t run to chase the car, it was 100 degrees!!! Oh my buhay yung maleta ko, whahhhh!!!
Hi Annie… I have been reading your past blog entries, feeling ko nag-travel na rin ako. I’ve been to Vegas so many times but we always drive, dati, it took us 6-7 hours from Phoenix when we still had to go down Hoover Dam. Since meron na new bridge, it only takes us 5 hours. Maganda pala ang McCarran Airport maybe we should try to fly… kaya lang our problem is… more MY problem, we always buy Filipino stuff sa Vegas to bring home to Phoenix…..Groceries from Seafood City, Cakes and pastries from Red Ribbon and Goldilocks, Siopao from Chowking, Pandesal from Valerios … haha…. hindi kasya sa maleta! haha
