This was the second time I have experienced the shortest flight time from Manila to San Francisco or from San Francisco to Manila. Usually, it was between 12 hours to almost 15 hours depending on the season and direction of the wind.
The plane was newer and the toilets were spacious. I was told that this particular aircraft was on lease from Garuda.
The flight was smooth. There was some mild but short turbulence while I was sound asleep according to my son. I took half a tablet of Bonamine to fall asleep. With all the almost daily news of airplane mishaps abroad, aba eh nakaka nerbyos talaga.
My son and I enjoyed PAL’s high standards of service. We were the first to board and three pillows were waiting for me. The service crew really played an important part in our travel. They calmed our anxiousness, and made us feel relaxed.
I purposely didn’t bring my iPad on this tryp. . I’ve been avoiding using it because it makes my eyes more labo. Lo and behold, the inflight entertainment was functioning well on this aircraft. I was able to enjoy a movie or two.
PAL sent me a survey form and I gave them a 10/10 rating based on this recent flight. The crew was great, Marjorie Aquino, Apple Dublin, and purser Papa who told me he was approaching the mandatory retirement of age 60. Thanks too to the pilots for bringing us to our destination safe, sound and smiling.
Marjorie has an interesting love story. Her three children are all smart and responsible. Puro successful. Her mom was her support system beginning when her kids were little until now.
My son and I were the firsts to disembark but we encountered a 20-minute delay at the immigration. When we got out, our two luggage were already there. Bong and Len picked us up. Their house is 20 to 30 minutes drive from San Francisco International Airport.
My sister cooked sinigang na kanduli for our dinner. After she and Bong picked us up from the airport, we went to their house for dinner and to drop off some pasalubong.
Delicious meal. I like the buntot, tapos merong sawsawan na patis. How can you avoid eating a lot of rice with this ulam?
