Free goldilocks @ village meet

I live in a small village inside a bigger village.  I like the location where our house is.  Although one could walk to the main roads, our house is in the inner part of the village.  It’s a little bit away from the maddening world of EDSA.

Instead of horns and nagre-rerebolusyon na makina ng mga buses,  I hear our dogs growling and barking, kittens meowing and birds chirping.

I also hear my voice loud and clear when I am pissed at something.

I have always had the impression that there is peace in this community.
Mahirap, mayaman, marami ring drama.

I have been a director of our village for the past few years.   I only get to see our neighbors during Christmas Parties.  The rest of the year,  we are very much on our own.  I don’t even get to see our front neighbor.  Although they hear our dogs barking.

Last Saturday, at the Annual Homeowners’ Meeting and Election of Officers,  not many came.  They just sent their proxies so the board elected ourselves (again).  Frankly speaking,  all of us are busy busy bees except that most villagers don’t want to be actively involved in managing our village.   Siguro dagdag stress.  Actually even if it’s only a once a month meeting,  I am not able to keep a complete attendance.  Travels, out of towns, tiredness, sickness, laziness.  And since I have other once a month things,  my schedule is medyo puno.  Our village board meetings are scheduled at 8:30 in the evening na sobra na akong low batt.  But out of concern for the community I belong to,  I get involved.

Contrary naman to the bigger village that we are also a part of, I was told that the director’s seats are hotly contested. They gather proxy forms and openly campaign to vote for this and that candidate. Bakit kaya? What benefit do they get?
Some say that the ones having their house built want to be elected so they can violate the homeowner’s rules like having a 3rd floor.

I walked lang from our house to the clubhouse. Ang init! Oh wah I am so scared of dogs, I hope our neighbors’ dogs are asleep. Yah I know, we have a lot of dogs at home. Takot pa rin ako and I hate it when they lick my toes.

My kids were already teeners when we moved in here kaya we were not able to make use of this playground.

There used to be a swimming coach from outside of the village who came here and taught swimming lessons to kids but his services were terminated recently when our admin officer noticed he was becoming too comfortable na. Watching tv, eating, while the kids were in the water. Naku, baka malunod!

We always have coke and water at the table but no one drinks naman kaya Caling Young joked that we are so matipid, we save it for the next board meeting.

Richard Yee, the president of Goldilocks is also our village president. Sarap… libre Goldilocks.

  1. Hi An. I’ve also been on the board of our village for quite some time now. Our meetings are twice a month and usually last until midnight. Hopefully, I can consult you on how to deal with certain issues on running a village. Regards.
