Giant Bento Box - Oh My Buhay

Some of the guests gathered around the cocktail spread eating cheese, chocolates, fresh raspberry and grapes while waiting for what’s next.

I think I was the only one not holding a champagne glass.

Two bottles of Dom Perignon were on the table and two more were on the bench. Excluding those in champagne glasses passed around by the waiters.

Dom flowed like water here. I brought pa naman a bottle and gave it to Lior, supposedly my gift for Maymay. Wrong choice.

Lior has a new collection of Gabby Barredo’s masterpieces. This time they’re more subdued, not as creepy as the ones displayed here before.

Each one of us had a camera, kaya kuha dito kuha doon.
Ana Sobrepena, Ma-an Hontiveros, and Maribel Calma, and omb.

We boarded the bus at almost 9 pm. Lorna and companions arrived just in time.
She was complaining that’s she’s starving.

Lorna Kapunan introduced me to Pete Villalon, who happened to be a loyal customer of Mazda Makati. He sat between Margie Moran and I. When the bus started to move, we were asked to cover our eyes. Since Pete and I were engrossed in conversation about the three Mazda vehicles he bought from us, we didn’t notice that they were all wearing their piring. I heard Margie Moran say three times, “cover your eyes”.

Aside from the danger of having a migraine attack from the tight eye cover, I didn’t like the idea of me riding a bus, in a place I am not familiar with and not knowing where I would be going. If there’s an emergency, I would be completely helpless, not knowing where I was. Five of us had our respective drivers follow us.

Pete said he’s making daya by opening his eyes. I followed suit. I opened my eyes but I couldn’t recognize where we were. The bus entered a village gate, there’s a poster on the sides, which read Pilar Village. Pete said, yes indeed, it seemed like we’re really going to BF Homes Paranaque. The waiter was correct.

In a few minutes, the bus stopped in front of a European inspired facade. It’s Gabby Barredo’s gallery and residence.

Maymay’s 53rd dinner blow-out was held inside Gabby’ workshop in a building across his house.

Our meal was served in a giant bento box. It had beef, mushrooms, salmon, lobster, pasta, chicken, strawberry with chocolate dip, etc.

Pea soup

Tiny carrots with creme and chocolate dip

Beef with couscous

The birthday celebrant with her 21 year old son, Philippe.

Ana Sobrepena, Ma-an Hontiveros, and Maribel, mom of Carlo Calma, owner of Vask.

Water was served with a straw in this ceramic containers.

Dining in front of a floating brain.

The long dining table was specially made and rushed to accommodate 30 guests of Maymay.
This guy floats high above the ceiling overlooking the pitch black dining table. Who on earth could think of something like this? Only Gabby.

Cora “CDO” Ong, Ohmybuhay, Gabby Barredo, Lorna Kapunan, Jimmy Regalario

Atty. Lorna Kapunan and genius artist Gabby Barredo.
According to Lorna, when they first met a few years ago (thru Maymay), Gabby gave him a nice art piece worth a million pesos.

He’s currently doing a Faberge egg for shipment to New York for the city’s annual blind auction.
